Fluvanna Farmer’s Market Returns

Warm weather has defrosted Virginia and, with that, comes the return of many popular events. One of which, being the local Farmer’s Market.

On Sunday, April 10th, the event kicked off with an assortment of goodies, new and old. Vendors and live music drew in the crowd by Ace Hardware (the location of the Farmer’s Market) on a sunny and breezy day. Many dogs enjoyed the excitement of treats and toys to occupy themselves while their owners walked around to admire and invest in the local handiwork. From baked goods and fresh produce to home decor and soaps, there is something for everyone at the local farmer’s market.

Farmer’s markets have been around for over 5,000 years, however, the first American farmer’s market occurred in 1634. For what feels like forever, they have been a unique pinnacle of local history, as well as a simple way to purchase fresh, yet affordable goods.

After covid first hit, things were on a halt which led to locals taking up new hobbies they never knew they would have enjoyed without the quarantine. These crafts carried over after quarantine came to a close, introducing all sorts of new and unique creativities being sold alongside local farm goods.

If you are ever at a loss for an activity to do over the weekend, the Fluvanna Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 11 – 3 P.M. by Ace Hardware.
