Horace Scruggs’ Madrigal team had their annual spring tour at JB Elementary School in Richmond on April 15. The Flucos competed against St. David’s Episcopal and many other Catholic schools. Students competing included Tiffany Beach, Brandon Cheung, Loryn Davis, Beau Guard, Autumn Hellms, Haley Hughes, Jasmine Jones, Christopher Kidd, Jessica Kirby, Sarah Miller, Kara Morris, Jada Palmer, Megan Schwagerl, Taijana Simms, Cayla Stephens, and Katelyn Williams.

After practicing since August, the Flucos were able to take 3rd in the tournament. The three songs that the Flucos sang were He [Was] Watching over Israel, Sing Gladly, and Plenty Good Room. “Mr. Scruggs chose these songs because of their style and more classical feel,” said Hughes.

The awards ceremony was held at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg at the Royal Palace Theater. Afterwards, the whole class enjoyed the park, including rides like The Griffon, Apollo’s Chariot, and Alpengeist.“My favorite ride was Verbolten,” said Stephens. “Busch Gardens was a lot of fun. We as a class were able to bond a lot,” said Morris.
