“Ms. Zdonski? Who is that?” This is the question many students have been asking, unaware that a new teacher, Ms. Amy Zdonski, recently arrived for her first year at Fluvanna County High School. But who is Ms. Zdonski? Well, to start with, she’s December’s Staff Member of the Month.

“I came to Fluvanna because I heard good things about it,” Zdonski said in a recent interview. The current Earth Science teacher only teaches 9th graders, but she’s been working hard to get to know as many students as possible. Upon discovering that she had been elected staff member of the month, she was shocked. “I never expected it,” she said. “The other teachers [at FCHS] have been awesome. They’ve been very supportive and helpful.”

Zdonski offered two facts about herself that might surprise people. “I love to fish for striped bass,” she said. She also revealed one past work experience that was not a repeat: “As a college job I worked for a hypnotist,” she said. “He would stop people from smoking and things like that. It never worked. He was a scammer.”
