This fall, there was a Voice of Democracy speech contest held by VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) that Mr. Morrison and Mrs. Zavadsky’s American Studies’ students participated in.  15 students entered the contest and had to write an essay on the topic of My Vision of America.  They recorded their essays, then entered the VFW contest.

After the essays had been judged, three students were chosen.  Those students were Kathryn Stowell in first, Victoria McDonald in second, and Savannah Forren in third.  All three students won cash prizes, and Stowell went on to compete on the district level.  She won second place there, getting another cash prize.
