Tennis

The boys’ tennis team had a hard week as they played every day except for Friday. On April 20, they faced Orange County, but lost 5-1. The following day, they faced Monticello, fighting hard but ultimately losing 7-2. On Wednesday, they suffered a hard loss against Western Albemarle, losing 9-0. Despite three days of losses, the Flucos fought hard April 23, finally pulling off a much-needed win against Powhatan in a close match of 5-4. The team was unable to take a breather this week either as they have a match every day with the exception of April 30.

As for the girls’, their week wasn’t any easier than the boys’. They also had four matches, none of which were wins. The played Orange on April 20, losing 6-3, then faced off against Monticello the next day where they fell by a tough score of 1-8. Unlike the boys’ team, the girls’ team didn’t manage to come back from their losses, losing both matches against Western and Powhatan by scores of 0-9 and 7-2, respectively. The team faces another rigorous schedule this week, with three away matches.

Track

Both the boys’ and girls’ track had an excellent week, winning the home quad meet against Orange, Powhatan, and Western Albemarle on April 22. The score was Fluvanna 115, Orange 26.5, Western 45, Powhatan 72.5. A few outstanding performances came from Natasha Martin, Kristen Cabrera, Julianna Elliott, Autumn Shepherd, Alexandria Daniels, and Avery Haislip. The next meet will be the Fluvanna Invitational on May 1.

Soccer

On April 21, both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams played at Monticello.  The boys’ JV and Varsity teams both mostly dominated their games with Varsity walking away with a 2-0 win and JV holding their own, but ultimately losing 0-1.  On April 23, the girls once again dominated their matches while playing against Powhatan.  Varsity won by a score of 2-1, and JV won 1-0.  Both teams looked to take on Albemarle on April 27, followed by games with Orange on April 30.

 Baseball

On April 21, the Varsity baseball team lost their game against Monticello by a score of 2-9, but came back and fought hard on April 23 against Powhatan where they were victorious, ending 4-2.  Meanwhile, JV lost their game against Monticello with a down-to-the-wire score of 9-10, but much like Varsity, beat Powhatan by a score of 4-2.  This week, they play against Albemarle on April 28, and against Orange on May 1.

 Softball

While playing against Monticello on April 21, the JV team won their game with an impressive 10-0 victory, then followed up their dramatic win by intimidating Powhatan into an 8-3 loss on April 23.  The varsity team was not so fortunate last week, losing their game with Monticello by a score of 5-8 and their game with Powhatan by a score of 8-5.  Both teams take on Albemarle on April 28 and Orange on May 1.
