“Pink Out” Planned For Breast Cancer Walk

The FCHS Future Business Leaders of America club will be hosting the annual Harriett J. Parrish Memorial Breast Cancer Walk on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the football field. (The rain date is Oct. 26).

FBLA sponsors Christine Kreitzman, Tonya Vowels, and Williane Charles are encouraging all students to wear pink that day and purchase a ticket to attend.

The walk will be held during 4th block during a regular bell schedule. Students who purchase tickets will check-in with their 4th block teachers before reporting to the football field. Students who would like to participate can purchase tickets for $3 at lunches in the Cafeteria, or in Mrs. Vowel’s room (4504). All proceeds will go to support local breast cancer charities.

In addition to participating in the walk itself, students will be able to purchase food and items from FCHS Career and Technical Education classes which will be selling and showcasing their skills to raise money for breast cancer research. For example, the Cosmetology classes will offer face painting, hair extensions, and beaded bracelets, all ranging from $2 to $5 each. All proceeds are split between the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation in Richmond and Project ASK at Virginia Commonwealth University to support children with cancer.
