Swim & Dive Feb. 10-22

Reaching the end of their season, the Swim team has made an effort to go out with a bang.  While the team’s regional meet on Feb. 15 at George Mason University was the last meet of the season for many of the team’s members, seniors Alyssa McIver and Bryce Campanelli, juniors Lauren Cabrera, Lucas Reynard and Kaitlin Presley, sophomore Maddie Messier, and freshmen Fefe Nardone and Anna Hurdle all qualified for states.  “I felt like I could have done better personally, but I was really proud of the team and thought it was a great way to end my last swim season,” said senior Alex Sprouse.

The team had three consecutive state meets from Feb. 20-22 at Virginia Tech where both Campanelli and Hurdle won the 4A diving state championship titles, setting a new record.  “I felt very honored after winning the title and felt that my hard work for the last four years has paid off,” said Campanelli.  Nardone came in 10th place in the 100 Fly and 12th place in the 50 Free.  The relay team was also competitive coming in the top 15.  “I think this was one of the best state teams I have ever been a part of.  We reached success both in diving and swimming.  It was a great States for all of us overall,” said Campanelli.
