Staff Member of the Month: Jennifer Goodwin

September’s FCHS Staff Member of the Month is Jennifer Goodwin, a special-ed teacher who has taught for ten years. “There are very few people in this building that work harder or are a bigger champion for her students that Ms. Goodwin,” said one of her colleagues upon learning the news. Another unnamed teacher said “[Goodwin] is constantly working with her students in both class and individual settings,  She is tirelessly working to help her students grasp the subject at the highest level possible.”

As for Goodwin, she says that “My favorite part of the job [is] the results from all of [the students’] hard work in May. I don’t mean their SOL scores, but their maturity, independence, self confidence, and pride.”

Goodwin grew up in New Jersey and graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelors Degree and Old Dominion University with a Masters Degree. She is married with three young children, ages 2, 4, and 6. “My oldest had a bone marrow transplant in April 2015. She is 17 months post-transplant and doing well,” she said.
