FCHS students at the 2016 Destination Imagination Regionals competition at Western Albemarle High School.

Fluvanna County High School is looking to form Destination ImagiNation teams open to all grades. DestiNation Imagination (DI) is a non-profit organization that offers educational programs for students to experience and further their skills in teamwork and problem-solving. Each DI team works over the course of several months using creative solutions to challenges provided by DestiNation Imagination. There are two levels of competition: Non-competitive Rising Stars (K-2) or Competitive (Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12).

If you are interested in being involved, here’s what you need to know:

  • Each team may have seven members at most.
  • Teams will meet from October to February, meeting one day a week.
  • Weekly meetings will take place outside of the school day in a place decided by the team.
  • All registration forms must be completed by Friday, October 7.

After being presented with their challenges, teams will present their solution to the given problem at the Regional Tournament that takes place next February or March.

All teams will be under the direction of a volunteer team manager, who is generally a parent of a team member. All potential team managers will complete an application form and undergo a criminal background check. A mandatory training will be held in November at Monticello High School.
