TV Production is one of many electives FCHS offers. Designed for students interested in broadcast communications, it teaches skills to work individually or in groups as crewmembers, using cameras, microphones, mixers, and editing systems. Here, junior Sean Southall carefully edits footage, ensuring scenes flow naturally. “TV Production takes a real eye for small details,” Southall said.

Senior Brian Bauer films the scenery for a project, capturing his surroundings through the lens. His attention to detail and creative eye bring the landscape to life, as he carefully frames each shot. “I want to make sure each frame tells a story,” he said.

Sophomore Jacob Weimer practices filming. “This is the camera that we use for In The Know. I enjoy getting to use the nice technology the school has to offer. We are really lucky to have this class as an opportunity to learn more about TV production,” said Weimer.

Sophomore Jakob Trent puts together various clips he has created for a project. “The opportunities I’ve had to learn how to use equipment like teleprompters and cameras has been fun. I recommend taking TV Production to anyone who likes technology,” he said.

The teleprompter helps the “In The Know” news anchors deliver the news smoothly by showing the script right in front of the camera. This lets them keep eye contact with the audience while reading, making the presentation feel more natural and engaging without them having to memorize everything.
