On April 26, FCHS held its annual Prom in the cafeteria with the theme “Tangled.” At 8 p.m., the doors opened, revealing a scene inspired by the Disney movie “Tangled.” Lights, vines, and flowers adorned the walls in shades of green and purple. “The Prom Committee did an amazing job and brought this vision to life with their creativity,” said teacher and Prom sponsor Sherry Esch.

As the dance kicked off, the DJ began playing music from a variety of musical genres. Colorful lights shone on the crowd as students jumped, danced, and sang with their friends. “The DJ did a great job making sure everyone’s music taste was included, and I liked how he would skip songs if students weren’t feeling them,” said senior Katherine Bond.

Along with the decorations, the Prom committee set up a photo station where students could capture picture-perfect moments with dates, friends, and teachers. Many took full advantage of the setup, including junior Caylee Holsapple and her date. “I think this was definitely one of the best dances we’ve had,” Holsapple said. “The decorations were really cute, but I think floating lanterns like the ones from ‘Tangled’ would have added a nice touch.”

Once everyone had settled in, the DJ announced the Prom King and Queen, seniors Jr. Cazares and Emma Pittman, and invited them to the front. After the crowning, the pair shared the traditional Prom King and Queen dance. “I had voted for Jr. as Prom King earlier that week, so I was really excited when he actually won,” said junior Adisen Brown.

Off the dance floor, teachers Amanda Fisher and Kirsen Pillow held down the food station, keeping students energized throughout the night. “We definitely stocked up on food,” said Esch. “We got 210 cupcakes, 1,000 Chick-fil-A nuggets, 150 cookies, and 72 sodas,” she added.

Around 10:45 p.m., the energy of the dance began to simmer. The lights dimmed, the music softened, and friends started gathering their things. Before heading out, they paused to take a few final pictures. “What really stood out to me was the decorations. They did a good job with the theme. The dance was a solid 8 out of 10, so much better than Homecoming. It felt great to be able to be there,” said junior Karley Johnson (pictured far right).
