In Gladys Guzman’s Spanish class at FCHS, students worked on a “Fashion House” project. They designed a fashion collection to practice the Spanish words they learned. After creating their collections, they presented them to the class and explained their designs in Spanish. Pictured is freshman Addaley Diemer writing the title for her collection.

To help students understand the vocabulary and content better, students were asked to create their own fashion lines using the words they had learned. For example, sophomore Lacey Rhodes (pictured here) made clothes for her “Sunny Littles” line for young kids. She chose fabrics and patterns that kids would like, using the vocabulary she learned to describe each piece. This project allowed students to connect what they learned with a hands-on activity.

The students were given a week to finish the “Fashion House” project which was designed to spark creativity and make learning Spanish more interesting. The project was meant to help them practice Spanish vocabulary in a fun way. Junior Samantha Fontenont (pictured) worked on her collection, “Simply Boutique” for children. In class, she focused on perfecting each outfit.

At the end of the week, the students’ projects were hung in the hallway for the school to see. Each collection, with its unique designs and bright colors, showed the effort the students put into their work. Freshman Conner Deery shared his thoughts about the project. “I really liked it because being creative helped me understand the vocabulary better and made it easier to remember and use the words we learned.”
