Junior Maraleine Milligan went out with Beta Club for Caring for Creatures. “We weeded and mulched for the animals and worked together as a group. We saw so many dogs and cats and had a wonderful time.”

Junior Emma Sample went to the Carysbrook recreation center to help mulch their playgrounds. “I went with SGA. We all split into groups and went to different places to help out. Starting out, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, but I really loved helping the community,” she said.

Junior Abigail Gordon volunteered with her group at Carysbrook Performing Arts Center. “We mulched the two playgrounds and had a great time working with one another! We all volunteered to help out the community and make it a better place for the people in it,” she said.

Junior Margeaux Cantagallo was stationed at the Carysbrook Recreational Center with Savannah Peterson and worked on mulching the miniature playground. “Since I was someone who had been on that playground as a young child, it was very nostalgic, and it felt good knowing the kids who now go on that playground got to enjoy fresh mulch,” she said.

At the annual Hands on Fluvanna event on March 28, some FCHS students gathered to help the community, including junior Amina Seiden who went to the FCPS school board office to do yardwork. “What was really cool about this was the fact that members from other groups eventually started showing up to help, and we all collaborated together on this project,” she said.
