One thing that we teenagers care about very much is our music and how we listen to it. So while we may not all have the same preferences for earbuds, I can assure you that the JVC Gumy Plus earbuds are a solid choice for a reliable and quality immersion into sound.

The factors that influence my choosing of earbuds are the following: bass, loudness, equalization/clarity, noise cancellation, lifespan, and price. After going through many pairs of headphones and earbuds in my years of listening to music, I’ve heard many variations of performance, and the JVC Gumy’s fit my preferences more perfectly than any other pair I’ve used.

These earbuds do not sit in your ear like a pair of standard Apple earbuds, but they instead go inside your ear. This allows the speaker to have much more contact with the ear, and allows for a head-rocking amount of bass to be felt. The earbuds cancel out a lot of noise going on around you, and are generally loud. The JVC’s have the capability to completely immerse you in sound, or to simply allow you to listen easily to a smooth roll of sound at a lower volume.

Even though the bass is very prominent, and the default volume is relatively high, no one element drowns out any other frequency, meaning that there is very good equalization of bass, treble, etc. With other earbuds, I would boost the bass, but that is nowhere near necessary with the JVC’s. Of course, if you wanted to equalize to your preference, that is what the equalizer is there for.

So far, I’ve had the earbuds for four months, and in that time, they have survived being put through the washing machine and dryer. In the past, I’ve had earbuds die after a month of use, a week of use, and even one day of use. These earbuds have impressed me with their lifespan greatly, and I’m confident they will not burn out for a while.

Their price on the official JVC website is $10 — $15 for a version with a microphone and volume controller — so their price can’t be too far from that mark at any local retailer. It almost seems like a steal to get such amazing quality for such a low price. I would pay for the JVC Gumy’s rather than a $150 pair of Beats any day.

I’ve tried many times to prolong the lifespan of earbuds, but if they aren’t strong  enough to last more than a month before dying, then I am just wasting effort and putting money down the drain. The sound of the Gumy’s is beyond compare to anything I’ve heard before, and definitely worth the $10 if you are as much of a music enthusiast as I am.
