The FCHS Engineering class offers students the opportunity to build and create projects such as catapults. “I enjoy building and making projects that work,” said senior Kyle Harris (with junior Noah Bowman and senior Mario Bustillo).

Here, junior Walter Everard tests out and builds more parts on his plinko board project. “My favorite part of Engineering is being able to use my creativity,” said Everard.

FCHS offers multiple Engineering classes, including Introduction to Engineering, and Principles of Engineering. The first class focuses on computer design and building simple things, while the latter has students build with metal and start using electricity. “I took this class because I want to pursue a career in Engineering and make a ton of money,” said Bowman.

In Engineering, you are assigned multiple projects that you have to complete. Some projects are designed and built with cardboard and plastic, with others designed on the computers, making 3D prints come to life. Pictured is a catapult, one of the projects the class has to complete.

Engineering teacher Terrence Schnitter offers many opportunities in the Engineering field, including the Drone Club. This interactive club allows students to design, program, and fly drones against other schools. “My favorite part about teaching Engineering is the hands-on aspect; as a kid, I loved hands-on activities instead of just sitting in a classroom,” said Schnitter.
