Future Farmers of America (FFA) is an FCHS club based on a non-profit organization that focuses on educating students with hands-on learning. “It’s a community, like a family,” said President Alex Swingle ‘27 (pictured with Vice President Bridgette Thomson ‘27 in front of the chicken coop.)

“[FFA is] student run and allows students to voice their opinions on policies at the Capital to legislators,” said Thompson. Here, students Dakota Martin ‘28, Mason Henderson ‘29, and Caleb Kimble ‘29 work alongside each other on their course work.

“If you have passion, or if anyone is looking for a way to get themselves out there, FFA is definitely a good opportunity.” said Swingle. “Competitions are based on [your interests]. There are some for food, speaking, agriculture, anything you find passion in.” Pictured above, FCHS chickens roam around their student-built coop.

The advisor of FFA, Russell Jennings shares, “It’s a fun, hands-on approach to learning and gives you an opportunity to apply what you learn to the real world.” Above, Jennings teaches London Richardson ‘28 and Madison Davis ‘29 about the roots in a plant.

FFA welcomes all students who are interested. FFA contributes activities include making apple butter and Christmas wreaths, and running the greenhouse which sells plants to the local community. For more information email Jennings at [email protected].
