The FCHS School Counseling office is a safe place for all students to express their feelings. “I like my counselor [Joell Cotton] because she listens to me and understands my point of view,” said freshman Madison Davis.

Students can receive resources from their counselors not just about colleges, but also mental health. “We’re school counselors, not guidance counselors,” said counselor Haden Parrish.

Students waiting to see their counselors can enjoy calm moments in the waiting area while relaxing for a moment and getting their thoughts straight. They can play with the winter-themed zen garden, fidget toys, or just take a moment and breathe. “The zen garden is a calming, interactive activity to do instead of classwork,” said sophomore Audrey Dickenson.
