Have you ever had a terrible day with every hour on the clock feeling as if your day is getting worse? What do you do when you feel that way? Who or what encourages you?
Now being sold by the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club, Refocus Bands help to battle that negativity by offering encouragement with just a flip. According to Sandy Loder of Peak Dynamics in her article “The impact of 45,000 negative thoughts,” human beings have up to 60,000 negative thoughts per day. Of those, around 45,000, or 75%, tend to be negative.
Wearing a Refocus Band can help you take control of your thoughts by flipping the band every time a negative thought overpowers you, giving your inner voice guidance to positivity.
“If you’re someone who has anxiety all the time–and you feel like you can’t breathe or you have that frozen panic–if you had this bracelet you would flip it and read ‘Close your eyes, take a deep breath,’ and do that,” said FCHS teacher and FBLA sponsor Christine Kreitzman. Kreitzman is currently selling Refocus Bands for $5 in Room 4508.
“The company [Refocus Bands by ZOX] charges $10 each, but we did this as a fundraiser, and we have extra, so we’re selling them for $5 each,” she said. She hopes to raise enough money for FBLA so that they can compete statewide.
The bands come in a variety of colors with positive sayings ranging from a simple “You got this,” to a broad ‘It doesn’t matter what they think.”
“Refocus Bands could help you take back your thoughts so you can focus on what really matters. Hopefully, it makes you change your thinking, helping you to refocus,” Kreitzman said.
