With just three weeks of school left, exams are approaching quickly. Students should be aware of the exam schedule in order to be sufficiently prepared. Final exams and SOLs will run from Tuesday, May 13, through Friday, May 16, while retakes will be offered through Wednesday, May 19.
Any classes with required SOLs, CTE, PVCC, and AP classes will test in their specific blocks. There are no exemptions for these tests. Students who want to leave early on exam days must abide by the school policy outlined by the Attendance Office.
“I would like to remind the students that they absolutely need a written note from their parents if they want to leave after they are finished with their SOL/Exam,” said Attendance Officer Leona Haden. “Exam time is an extremely busy time, and having these notes turned in the first thing in the morning benefits everyone: me, the student, and the ladies in the front office. The other thing I would like to remind everyone is that they need to sign in at the Attendance Office if they arrive late, and they especially need to sign out if they are given permission to leave early,” she added.
Testing Coordinator Angie Blevins noted that students who miss tests or do not meet the minimum passing score must make arrangements to retest. Students should contact their teachers as soon as possible after an exam to see what they scored, and email Blevins at [email protected] if they need to schedule a retake.
