Senior Henry Jeffries is leaving behind a legacy of leadership and dedication that will continue to influence the Fluvanna lacrosse program for years to come. He is heading to Emory and Henry College after this season, marking the end of an important chapter for the Fluvanna varsity lacrosse team. As a leader and standout defender, his departure will be a significant loss for the Flucos, not only in talent but in team morale. Jeffries has dedicated four years to the program, building his skills through years of playing alongside his twin brother, Jack.
“With just this last month of school, I plan to have fun playing lacrosse and doing more extracurricular activities,” stated Jeffries. Off the field, he focuses on bringing teammates together and organizing activities to help strengthen team chemistry.
Jeffries has always balanced academics and athletics. He plans to attend Emory and Henry for two to three years before transferring, all the while continuing to pursue his dream of playing college lacrosse. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a kid,” stated Jeffries, who, with strong dedication, has attended multiple showcases, drawing attention from recruiters.
Jeffries’ mom has always had the confidence that her kids would attend college. Her oldest son, Connor, has been attending Bridgewater College and playing lacrosse, and Jack will be attending Radford College for track. Henry will be going to Emory and Henry College, but his journey hasn’t been without challenges. After tearing his ACL during junior year, many questioned whether he could continue playing at the next level. However, through rehabilitation and determination, he made a full recovery and returned to the field stronger than before during his senior year.
Jeffries’ passion for the sport extends beyond his own persona. During COVID, Jeffries and his brother coached younger players, a role he continues to embrace. “I want to help as many kids as I can because I was there at some point,” he stated. His leadership has made a lasting impact on teammates and coaches.
Fluvanna varsity lacrosse head coach praised Jeffries’ commitment, stating, “He helps as many people as he can, always going the extra mile, if that’s running with teammates, giving constructive feedback, or if it’s just leading the team, he always does that.”
Looking forward, Jeffries plans to train over the summer to prepare for college lacrosse. With no true offseason at the next level, he is committed to constant improvement, spending time at Bunker Bistro to practice, and competing with a travel team to get better.
Alongside his brothers, Jeffries also hosts workouts at Bunker Bistro, welcoming players from Fluvanna and surrounding schools. These sessions have helped develop younger athletes, particularly at the JV level, contributing to their growth and success.
