Track runner and lacrosse star Jack Jeffries is one of many students preparing for college after high school. He will attend Radford University for track and field, and with his high GPA, he had many options to choose from before selecting Radford. As a two-sport athlete and strong student, Jeffries has the full college package. He originally planned to attend William & Mary, but later decided Radford was the right fit for him.
“He always wanted to go to college, just not what for, so I was very proud of him when committing to a college,” stated his twin brother, Henry.
Jack has competed at the state level multiple times in track while also serving as a captain for the FCHS varsity lacrosse team. Outside of sports, he stays active in the community as a blood donor and by organizing running groups for others. Although he has always been more focused on track than lacrosse, he appears to balance both sports well.
“In the classroom, he is always making people laugh, always on time, and always doing his work,” said his friend and fellow senior Brayden “BJ” Johnson.
Jeffries is constantly running or playing lacrosse to improve his skills. He started playing at a young age and even coached teams during COVID. As a senior and talented faceoff player for Fluvanna, he will be difficult to replace. In the offseason, he spends his time touring colleges, playing travel ball, and sometimes watching film to improve his understanding of the game.
Jeffries and his brother both play lacrosse at FCHS. The two can often be seen together, spending time with friends and helping others. Another one of Jeffries’ strengths is his ability to connect with peers.
“He’s fun to hang out with on and off the field, always cracking jokes and making the team laugh,” said FCHS Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach BJ Patterson. He describes Jeffries’ playing style as fast, crafty, and athletic. “He can get to any spot on the field, and when he does, it usually works out,” he said.
As he enters his final four to seven weeks of high school, Jeffries says he wants to make the most of the time he has left and enjoy it with the people around him before getting ready for college, before this next chapter begins.
“This summer I plan on hanging out and realizing how good life is,” he said.
