Morris Named Athletic Director of the Year
On April 19, Fluvanna’s own Athletic Director (AD) was given a prestigious award. Scott Morris was named the 3A/4A Virginia Athletic Administrator of the Year at the March meeting of the Virginia Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (VIAAA).
This is the second time Fluvanna has received this award, with Phil Browning receiving the award in 1984. This award came after 13 years of hard work and dedication to the school system, after Morris became the AD in 2004.
During Morris’ tenure, he has accomplished many feats benefitting FCHS, including helping open facilities at the new Fluvanna County High School, and overseeing the implementation of various new sports programs including girls’ and boys’ lacrosse and forensics.
James Balow, long-time principal at FCHS, had nothing but good things to say about Morris. “Mr. Morris has been instrumental in Fluvanna County High School staying on course and continuing to have an efficient athletic program,” he said. With years of successful teams and records, numerous students going on to be college-level athletes, and an overall successful program, many Flucos appear to agree.
