The FCHS boys varsity lacrosse team has jumped into its season quickly and currently holds a 4-3 record as of April 15. Their biggest win so far came against Charlottesville High School on March 31, where they dominated 12-3 in a game that showed the team’s chemistry and toughness.
Varsity head Coach Weisenburger supports team members with lots of motivational yelling, coming into practice with a plan against the opponent, and going over what the players haven’t been doing well in their games.
There are strong expectations and growing excitement surrounding the team as they continue through their schedule. Next, FCHS will face Western Albemarle High School, which currently holds a 2-3 record, on April 21.
“Being able to face Charlottesville and beat them the way we did, it mattered a lot to me and the team, and it definitely improved our coaches’ confidence in us. There’s always tension and that feeling of a rivalry before playing those guys, so it’s always an important game,” said senior varsity lacrosse player Henry Jeffries.
“We also just beat Monticello by a large margin, and that has really boosted the team’s overall mood, and we’re really hoping to go far this season, and I believe we have it in us,” said Jeffries.
