On Oct. 24, the Fluvanna Varsity Football team came out strong and took down Charlottesville 50-26 in their Homecoming game. This is Fluco’s fourth straight win, and their season record currently is 5-3.
“We have faced some adversity through the season, losing three starters due to injury, but others are stepping up to make plays,” said Football Head Coach Mitchell Pace.
For the second week in a row, the Flucos never punted, scoring a touchdown on every offensive drive. They rushed for 330 yards and passed for 100 yards, totaling over 400 yards of offense. Junior Garrett Jordan rushed for over 100 yards and scored a touchdown, while senior Matt Rea rushed for 78 yards and scored his own touchdown. According to Pace, 11 different players contributed to offensive yards, while seven touchdowns by six different players showcased the team’s depth.
FCHS’s next game will be away against Goochland on Oct. 31. Their Senior Night will be against Albemarle at home on Nov. 7.
