Fluvanna’s April 25 Prom delivered a night to remember, transforming the cafeteria into a casino-themed area filled with lights, music, and playing cards everywhere. From the moment students first walked in, they were greeted by a dark arch covered in playing cards and a dimly lit atmosphere that transformed the Cafeteria’s usual clinical look into one of comfort and warmth.
The Prom court, which had been announced the previous day, included seniors Natalie Gomez, Luke Manzano, Carson Raines, Molly McCall, Ryllen Beasley, Landon Mayhew, Andre (Tre) Key, Jack Jeffries, Savannah Peterson, Adisen Brown, and Margeaux Cantagallo. After a drumroll at the dance, Ryllen Beasley and Landon Mayhew were crowned prom queen and king, which received loud cheers and applause in response.
Reflecting on the moment, Beasley said, “It felt so great to hear everyone cheering after my name was announced, and it added a special memory to my last high school prom.”
Throughout the night, the dance floor was constantly in use as students listened to music by DJ Reggie Lewis, dancing and keeping their energy high.
“Prom was so fun this year because all of my friends stayed almost the whole time and didn’t leave early. I think the music may have helped this,” said Molly McCall. This was different from past years, when many attendees often only stayed at the dance for an hour or less of the three-hour dance.
“I really loved the casino decorations; they really went all out this year. It was a great prom, and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my senior prom any other way,” said McCall.
