Sitting atop the Blue Ridge Mountains, Chiles Peach Orchard is one of the most popular Virginia locations during the fall and spring seasons. The family-owned orchard is located in Crozet and has been providing people with outdoor fun, pretty views, and fresh food for years.
Chiles allows you to pick fresh fruit right off the trees. Depending on the season, you can pick strawberries, blueberries, apples, pumpkins, and peaches. Strawberry picking kicks off the spring season, starting in May. From the end of March through mid-April, one of the main attractions is their colorful tulip field. Visitors are encouraged to stroll through it, take pictures, and pick their own bouquets of red, yellow, pink, and purple tulips for about $16 per person.
Behind all the flowers and fruit, the beautiful rolling mountains add to the scenery and make a focal point to take photos and slow down. Driving up the scenic and windy Virginia roads to get to the orchard is an added bonus.
After fruit picking and mountain gazing, customers may be hungry, and Chiles’ food does not disappoint. Half the food is baked and prepared on-site, and the other half is locally sourced. The sweet treats, such as apple cider donuts and ice cream, are often guests’ favorite part of their visit. For adults, there is a wine tasting area to relax and take in the views.
Along with Carter Mountain Orchard (owned by the same people as Chiles) on Route 53 near Monticello, Chiles Peach Orchard is a must-visit spot to enjoy the outdoors or spend time with loved ones. They also have an online store you can visit. For hours and directions to the orchards, see the following links:
