Round 4 of M(Art)ch Madness has arrived, and the competition is down to four pairs of artwork (eight pieces of work total), including Fragonard’s 18th-century oil painting “The Swing,” which won the contest in 2024. Voting for round 4 will be March 18-20, and the form will close at 3 p.m. on March 20.
The remaining artworks in the voting bracket are the Taj Mahal vs. Raphael’s “School of Athens,” the Winged Victory of Samothrace statue vs. Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” Chartres Cathedral vs. Katsushika Hokusai’s “The Great Wave,” and “The Swing” vs. Matisse’s “The Goldfish.” “The Oxbow,” by Thomas Cole, which won the Fluco M(art)ch Madness tournament in 2025, is no longer in the 2026 rankings.
Art teacher Michelle Coleman, who runs the voting for her AP Art History class, said the number of students and staff members voting for M(art)ch Madness continues to increase.
“When it first started, I had about 150 votes per round. Now I average about 350 per round,” said Coleman.
