Virginia’s football team has been thriving this season, even more so than in past seasons. This year, they have played some highly skilled teams, and they have happily surprised their fans with numerous victories. The University of Virginia (UVA) played Florida State, the #8 team in the nation, in late September, and won in overtime. Since then, they haven’t lost a single game.
Overall, the Virginia Cavaliers have only lost one game this season, giving them an overall 7-1 record and a 4-0 record in their conference. This puts them second in the Atlantic Coast Conference, a U.S. collegiate athletic conference where member universities compete in the NCAA’s Division I (ACC). Georgia Tech is currently in first place. With the Cavaliers’ winning record, they are climbing up in the rankings, placing them at the number 15 spot in the nation. This means they are one of the best teams in college football this year
Being ranked so high this season is a huge boost for the team, coaches, and Cavalier fans, since this college team hasn’t been nationally ranked since 2019. The Virginia Cavaliers could be the best they have been in decades, leaving fans excited and hopeful to see whether they can keep up the pace for the rest of the season.
Cavaliers’ Head Coach Tony Elliott came to this team nearly four years ago, entering the program in a rough spot, with the team being extremely underwhelming and having a poor record. Over the past three years, he has been building the team’s skills and recruiting better players to play for the team. With how much UVA has improved, the team finally has a shot at the ACC championship this year.
According to Fox Sports, the odds as of Oct. 30 for who will win the Dec. 6 ACC football championship are as follows:
Georgia Tech – +170
Miama (FL) – +260
UVA – +475
