The Homecoming dance is right around the corner. This event is for 9th-12 graders and will take place a bit earlier this year on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 7-10 pm (instead of the usual 8-11 pm) in the FCHS cafeteria.
This year’s Homecoming theme is “Rhythm in Rio,” based on the movie “Rio,” so expect decorations with a tropical vibe. Reggie Lewis will be returning as DJ at this year’s Homecoming.
Dance guest forms are now available in the main office, and approved guest forms must be presented when purchasing a guest ticket. Guest forms are due at the main office no later than Friday, Oct. 17.
To attend, students must be in good standing, meaning they must have seven or fewer absences, two or fewer discipline referrals, and be passing three out of four or four out of five classes. They must also have updated their Infosnap (updated Powerschool Enrollment) and not owe any school fees for things like missing library books or broken Chromebooks.
“It’s a lot of planning for HOCO. We want to make it special for everyone, especially our seniors, because it’s our last one,” said SGA member and senior Mia Grace Dixon. “I may be biased, but I think this HOCO spirit week may be the most entertaining one we’ve had in a while, and I’m so excited to see everyone participate. I’m so proud of everyone working on decorations, spirit week, and the HOCO parade,” she added.
Tickets will be on sale for $15 each during lunch Oct. 20–24. Students should plan to buy them during that week, as none will be sold at the door on the day of Homecoming.
The nominations for 2025 Homecoming Court are the following:
8th – Oliver Combs & Piper Rodgers
9th – Isaac Johnson & Macy Tackett
10th – Hyden Kile & Amaris Garcia
11th – Evelyn Hughes & Jack Pace
12th – Luke Manzano & Natalie Gomez, Henry Jeffries & Ashley Monahan, Tre Key & Damiyah Washington, and Jonathan Gretz & Margeaux Cantagallo
The Homecoming king and queen will be announced at the Homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 24 at half-time.
