The FCHS Engineering classes have started a fundraiser using their new laser cutter, creating something they hope the whole student body can enjoy. They are now selling personalized dog tags for $5.
“We got our new laser cutter at the end of last year, and I used it all summer to understand how my students could take advantage of it. I found metal dog tag blanks and thought it would be cool to use them for our athletes and put their sport, name, and number on them. Then, the adults saw it at the Back To School Bash and put internet images on the dog tags. They turned out pretty good,” said FCHS Engineering teacher Terry Schnitter.
The dog tags can be engraved and customized in any way, including with pictures online. The tags come in a variety of colors, including red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, purple, pink, white, and black. The money generated from the fundraiser will be used to buy supplies and to help fund the Engineering classes’ Drone Club competitions.
“I have a few students interested in helping with the engraving of the dog tags, so when class time permits, they get to help. We can engrave the dog tags all year,” said Schnitter.
