On May 2 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., SGA will host a movie night next to the FCHS Greenhouse, featuring the movie “Jurassic Park” on the big screen. The event is open to everyone in the community, not just FCHS students. Tickets are being sold through May 2 during lunches in the Cafeteria.
“Although the movie itself is free, if you’d like to enjoy a meal while watching, we’re selling $5 movie tickets during lunch, which include two slices of pizza and some lemonade. You do not need to purchase a ticket to watch the movie, but it’s a great deal if you’re looking to grab a bite,” said SGA member Addison Brown.
While the movie is playing, the cheer team will sell baked goods to raise funds for their program. Additionally, other vendors such as Valentine’s Popcorn will be on hand to sell food. Students, staff, and Fluvanna residents are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs.
Editor’s note: The event was canceled hours before the event on May 2. SGA member Adisen Brown shared this message through email: “After careful consideration, we’ve decided to postpone the event until next year. Unfortunately, due to lower-than-expected ticket sales and limited community engagement, we feel that this is the best decision moving forward. We are planning to kick off next year’s movie night as a special event to welcome students back after the summer break, and we hope to have a much stronger turnout with better preparation and promotion.”
