If you’re looking for an alternative to Cuppa Joe or Dunkin’ Donuts, Freedom Drip had its grand opening on April 1. Owner Lauren Davis originally started Freedom Drip as a food truck that attended local vendor events around the county. You could find her red, white, and blue stand at the Kents Store Fall Market or the Lake Monticello golf course.
Now, Davis has opened a walk-in shop in the Crofton Plaza Shopping Center, near BP and ACE Hardware. Handicap parking and an accessible entrance are available at the opposite end of the building.
“Freedom Drip is a local small business that has many more options than just coffee. I really enjoyed the iced vanilla chai and lemon bar,” said junior Lexie Ward.
“Every time I visit Freedom Drip, I am immediately struck by a warm, homey atmosphere. The owner always greets me with kindness and makes an effort to connect with every customer, ensuring they have the best experience,” said senior Marley Rochester.
Freedom Drip’s drink menu includes a variety of options, such as brewed coffee for $3.75, lattes for $6.25, hot chocolate for $4.25, and frozen lattes for $6.75. All drink sizes are 16 oz., and they use beans from Greenberry’s Coffee in Charlottesville.
The food menu features baked goods, including muffins for $3.75, cinnamon rolls for $4.25, scones for $3, and a variety of donuts for $3.50 each.
Freedom Drip’s hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are closed on Wednesdays.
