The second week of voting for the AP Art History M”art”ch Madness competition is underway. This week, more FCHS students are beginning to join the competition, and the range of art styles and mediums is making for some tough choices. Voting is not as simple as comparing two paintings at the time. In some cases, students must choose between works as different as the architectural design of the ancient Roman Colosseum and the 1893 painting “The Scream.”
“The art pieces were selected because they were the most loved by students. There was no real reason they were paired together; they were just shuffled and ended up next to each other,” said senior and AP Art History student Townes Mullinex. This random mix of styles is creating a voting challenge for some students.
When it comes to choosing a winning piece, junior Karley Johnson explained her process: “There’s no right answer, but I decided on the pieces that were most visually interesting to me.”
Voting for round 2 ends on March 13. You can vote now through the M(art)CH Madness Form.
