We see our fellow Flucos walk the halls every day. In a way, they have become part of our everyday scenery. But do we really know who these Flucos are?

Many students participate in activities or have interests that they pursue outside of school. FCHS Freshman Damon Everard is one of them. Everard is involved in a special society that revolves around singing barbershop. Barbershop, a singing style that is unaccompanied by instruments and has a four-part harmony.

“My father was singing barbershop when he was a kid, his father made him do it, and now I do it,” said Everard when asked how he first got into this unique style of singing. He enjoys the family atmosphere of barbershop singing and “the beauty of harmony when four voices come together.”

Despite working hard to synchronize harmonies, the barbershop members still like to have fun. According to Everard, there are many inside jokes running between the baritone singer and the rest of the group. So don’t be afraid to get to know your fellow Flucos. You just might be surprised by what you learn.
