Last Saturday, February 7, FCHS’s Winter Guard took their skills to their first competition of the season at Atlee High School in Richmond VA, where they earned not only 2nd place overall, but also took 1st place in dance.

The team, which consists of Isis Rodgers (Captain), Shelby Holtz (Captain), Erin Streeter, Hayley Jeffery, Emily Newton, Maddie Dunn, Maggie Fontanilla, Ziara, Amy Sigmann, Emily Sigmann, Amber Sigmann, Devon Armstrong, Mary Ofrias, and Gabby Barber, must be proud of their accomplishments so early in the season. Their coach, Ashley Wilson, certainly is, saying: “We have a long way to go but this is a great start! Our season is just beginning. Saturday was our first competition. We are still waiting on our uniforms for the season to come in and have a lot of things to add to the show before this Saturday the 14th, [but] our goal this year is to get a medal at championships.”

And a medal they may well earn if they keep up their hard work. Congratulations Winter Guard, and well done!
