With a 3-1 win against the Amherst Lancers at the semi-final conference championship on Nov. 5, the Lady Flucos advanced to the conference championship. Under the coaching of Christi Garrett, the team had beaten John Handley at the beginning of the season but was expecting a tough match. Outside hitter Maddy Kline summed up their chances before the game. “I think we have really good chances since we’ve been playing well, but they’ve improved a lot too so it will be close,” she said.

The team went into the game with high hopes of ending on top with a win. Senior Mia Perch put the squeeze on the other team by continually slamming all their overpasses back over the net and the Lady Flucos went full force to pull off the championship, coming out with a win and a set score of 3-2. The ladies earned the well-deserved title of Conference 23 Champions. “Everyone did their part to help us win,” said Captain Emily Haden. They will play in the regional tournament against the Carroll County Cavaliers at home on Nov. 12.
