Every year, Fluvanna County High School’s art department teams up with the art departments of Central Elementary, Carysbrook Elementary, and the Fluvanna Middle School to present the best of the arts (both fine arts and performing arts) that Fluvanna has to offer.
The 2024 Fluvanna County Art Show will be open to the high school on May 3 during all four blocks. Students are allowed to see the art show if they sign up through their teacher. If students would like to see art work from elementary and middle school students, they can stop by the high school on May 4 from 10 am to 2 pm to attend the Fluvanna Fine Arts Festival.
“There will be roughly 500 students’ art work in the Auxiliary Gym,” said FCHS art teacher Michelle Coleman, who is in charge of the event.
The Fine Arts Festival will display art from every grade level, kindergarten through twelfth grade. However, this is not only an exhibition for the visual arts. All the choirs and bands from each school, as well as the cast of FCHS’s spring play, Alice in Wonderland, will perform. The choirs will perform at 11:00 am, the Alice cast will perform at 12:00 pm, and the bands will perform at 1:00 pm.
There will also be a Red Cross blood drive at the event. The blood drive will be in the wrestling room from 9 am to 2 pm. A QR code will be available to sign up with, but the drive will also take walk-ins. For more information, contact [email protected].
Other activities available at the Fine Arts Festival include crafts stations for younger children, face painting, FCHS’s Agriculture class plant sale, and concessions run by FCHS’s culinary department. Everything is free except for buying art, plants, and concessions.
