The varsity football team ended its regular season on Nov. 3 with a record of 5-5. This was a significant improvement from the 2023 season, where the Flucos’ record was 0-10. In addition, the team had a number of highlights this season, including beating Broadway in overtime by 1 point, beating Orange after losing to them the past two years, as well as only losing to Goochland by 1 point.
Beyond their regular season, the team qualified to play in the first of the playoffs, taking on Liberty Christian Academy at Lynchburg on Nov. 10. However, the Flucos lost 56-6.
“I’m extremely proud of these young men, and the entire program, on and off the field this year,” said Varsity Head Coach Mitchell Pace. “Not only did we find success in games (JV being district champs and varsity returning to the playoffs and competing at the top of the Jefferson District), but I tried to develop a new standard of behavior and leadership in the hallways of FCHS,” he added.
