Coming out over a year after the previous season, “Outer Banks” season four was highly anticipated. On October 10, 2024, Netflix released “Part 1” of the season, consisting of the first five episodes. About a month later, the last five episodes came out as “Part 2.” While “Outer Banks” is labeled a teen drama, it’s full of romance, adventure, and thrill, which make it unique.
The show first aired in 2020 and has grown since then, with each season showing the characters’ relationships and development. The core group—JJ (Rudy Pankow), John B (Chase Stokes), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant)—started as four in season one and expanded to six in the newest season.
At the end of season three, the Pogues had $1,172,549 after uncovering gold and valuable treasures during their adventures. They spent their money on repurchasing JJ’s dad’s house, fixing it up, and opening a business together. For 18 months, the group lived their dream, but it didn’t last. After making a risky deal with Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) to find a treasure, they faced serious trouble. JJ and Kiara discovered the treasure, but they also ran into a new enemy searching for the same thing. Later in Part 1, the enemy came to Poguelandia (their home), leading to a kidnapping, a death, and JJ receiving an unexpected letter. The first part ended on a big cliffhanger involving JJ’s family.
The wait for Part 2 couldn’t have been longer. When it finally released, it delivered even more drama. JJ took his letter personally and caused chaos in the town, Pope got arrested, and Sarah found out shocking news. The group discovered a new artifact in Charleston and followed its trail overseas to Africa. Their journey included crimes, heartbreak, and healing relationships. It all led to Morocco, where the season ended with a shocking death and Kiara saying the word “revenge,” leaving fans desperate for more.
Fans on TikTok are obsessed with the season, sharing their reactions and opinions. “I think this season was slam-packed with drama. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Nothing can top season one, but this was definitely the second best,” said junior Ryllen Beasley. “It would’ve been perfect if the ending death didn’t happen.”
Others, however, thought it was lacking. “If I’m being honest, I think it’s really repetitive. It’s been the same thing over and over again,” said junior Jeremiah Owens.
Season five is expected to come out in 2026, and the cliffhanger ending will keep fans waiting. Personally, I’d rate this season 8/10. The cinematography was amazing, and you could tell a lot of effort went into it, but the plot felt repetitive at times. “Outer Banks” is rated TV-MA, with intense and gory scenes, so it’s best for viewers 16 and older.
