From teachers or morning announcements, students may have heard about the FCHS Student Hub, but many don’t even know what the hub is or what it’s for. The Hub provides students with ready access to many things that can make their school day easier, ranging from links to Powerschool and the school calendar, to learner’s permit testing dates and a way to buy discount sports event tickets.
If you’re not sure how to get to the Hub, the easiest way is to go to the Fluco Beat and scroll down to the bottom right and click on the “FCHS Student Hub” link. You can also find the link to the Hub by going to the main school website, click on the “schools” tab, then click the “web site” hyperlink underneath the high school’s info, and then click on the Student Hub link directly underneath the “FCHS Webpages” header. Students can bookmark the Hub on their Chrome bookmarks tab for ease of access.
According to FCHS Instructional Technology Resource Teacher Kristen Davis, the Hub was created by former Assistant Principal Frank Sampson before leaving in the fall of 2022. It was around that time that Davis became a member of the faculty and began to direct the Hub.
“I imagine it was created to be a one-stop location for student news and information,” Davis said.
Overall, the Hub is intended to be a resource for students to access news, upcoming events, PSAs, and more recently, information on the new Securly Pass system. (You can learn more about the new pass system here.)
If a student is unsure of when the FCHS Learner’s Permit test is being held, one look at the calendar widget on the Hub would show that it’s on Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. Students can also check out details for what to wear each day of an upcoming spirit week, get information on bus routes, and see daily announcements they might have missed on In the Know.
According to Davis, the Hub is still a growing site which will continue to be added to as time goes on.
“I would like to see more content that is created by students linked to the Hub,” Davis said, adding, “ I am also willing to take feedback from students about what would be helpful to have on the site.”
