Junior Movie Maker on the Hunt for Success

While lots of students take videos, Junior Chris Kreitzman is taking things a step farther, trying his hand at filmmaking with an original movie called The Hunter. He has been planning his movie since he was in 8th grade, and is very excited to begin production. As a student with little time or funds, he is limited where he can shoot the film, so he is currently shooting it in his house and the surrounding areas, such as Bunker Hill Park.

In addition to writing the script and directing the movie, Kreitzman is also starring in his production as the film’s hero, Ryan Steele. For the part, Kreitzman wears a red flannel shirt with jeans and fingerless gloves. The film’s villain, known as White Death, is played by Junior Joe Sullivan, who wears black attire and body armor for his role.

Kreitzman says his inspiration for the Steele character “was just from a bunch of action movies I’ve watched.” His vision for White Death’s outfit and demeanor came from comic books, most notably the character of Deadpool, who wears body armor and swords on his back.

In the plot for Kreitzman’s film, Steele’s father is a CIA agent who has a gym in the basement of his house. One day when he is very young, Steele unexpectedly walks in on his father training in the gym and is shocked to learn that his father is a martial arts and bladed weapons master. The two begin training together until about 10 years later, when Steele’s father is killed by the villain, White Death. The plot examines how Steele tries to avenge his father, culminating in one question: Can he really bring himself to kill to get his revenge?

Kreitzman expects his film to run about 90 minutes when completed and hopes to have it released sometime in July 2017 on Facebook, and later, perhaps, on DVD. “My goal is to make [The Hunter] a wide release, rather than just a small release,” Kreitzman said, noting that he’d like to eventually “try to bring [The Hunter]  to a big company, like Universal [Studios].”
