It was green.
It was their walks in the forest,
It was their picnics in a field of grass,
It was the stems of every color of flower they had given each other,
It was what they had grown together: pears, olives, sage, artichokes,
It was the crystals they had found: emeralds, malachites, aventurines,
It was the smell of petrichor from where they sat on their shared porch,
Their love, it was green.
