The Edge of Beauty
April 4, 2023
“The Edge of Beauty” is the result of a group project “Paint Chip Poetry” assignment in Elizabeth Pellicane’s 4th Block Creative Writing class.
On the cliff’s edge once bloomed
Lush flowers with sweet nectar consumed
Their beauty and scent filled the air
A paradise beyond compare
Visitors came from far and wide
To revel in the stunning sight outside
But one day something changed
And the soaring cliff became estranged
The air grew thick with pollution
Causing destruction and confusion
The flowers all withered and died
Leaving the cliff barren with no charm to abide
The flowers became fossils
And the damage done was rather colossal
A once pleasing place for the visitors to be taken aback
Became a disgraceful reminder of the care for nature that we lack
