The Student Government Association makes the HOCO parade run smoothly. “The parade was a little stressful to prepare for SGA, but in the end, I had a great time,” said junior Hadon Hartung. Getting ready to hand out candy, the cheerleaders wear football players’ jerseys for their float, as wearing skirts all night get chilly, “It was really cold [at the parade], but seeing the joy on the kids’ faces was worth it,” said sophomore cheerleader Kendall Austin.

Ryllen Beasley decorated a float with Samantha Killmeyer, Taylor Stringer, Molly Cook, Carson Johnston, Riley Bishop, and Elizabeth Garrett. “We had a lot of fun throwing candy to everyone who came to watch. Being there for my friend when Landon was preparing for football was something I would never pass up,” said junior Molly Cook.

FBLA students wear inflatable costumes for their floats. The students on the FBLA float went all out on their outfits, although some students did not just dress up for spirit. “I got paid five bucks to moo at people in my cow costume,” said senior Dylan Spillman.

The Sophomore Class float featured glamorous Hollywood decorations. “I was invited by one of my friends to be on their float. Although it was stressful, it was a lot of fun decorating the float and dressing up. It was fun getting to see my friends and handy out candy,” said sophomore Alaina Covert. “The parade was very entertaining and fulfilling. Being with my fellow council members and seeing the joy on kids’ faces when we handed out candy made the experience one to remember,” said Junior Class Vice President Jordan Lewis. The Book Club’s float was voted Best Float. “We had a great time preparing our float, and it was a bonding experience for everyone,” said junior Amelia Moore.
