Fluco Cafe Kicks Off for Staff

January 20, 2023

FCHS teachers and staff will soon have new monthly lunch options that will also support the Culinary Department. Starting Friday, Jan. 27 and continuing once each month through May, FCHS’s culinary students will make a variety of meals for purchase.

Culinary teacher Jonnay Grooms said that both of her Culinary Arts I and II class will be collaborating to make these lunches. The Jan. 27 meal will be Lasagna and Garlic Bread. Each meal will have the option of sweet or unsweetened tea.

The lunches are $12.50 per meal. Staff members who want to purchase these meals must pre-order and pay for meals by contacting Bookkeeper Angela Brown ([email protected]), a week prior. Grooms encourages staff members to print off the flyer emailed to them and cut out the ticket of the meal for that month. “It makes it a lot easier for us to keep track of who paid and how many lunches the students need to prepare,” said Grooms.

The Culinary students will be serving the meals on the selected dates from 11:45 am to 1:45 pm in room 1611, or a student can deliver them to the faculty member’s room.

“The money is being fundraised for the Culinary Department to buy food and supplies, as well as to go on field trips,” said Grooms. She expects some challenges to arise. “The biggest challenge will probably be making sure everything runs smoothly since this is the first time we have even done this. We are expecting a large number of orders, so we want everything to go smoothly, but we know we will have some kinks,” she said.
