Diving into Decision Day
April 25, 2019
With April coming to a close and finals rapidly approaching, there are a few important senior activities left. One of those activities is celebrating National Decision Day on May 1.
May 1 is deemed Decision Day because it is the deadline for most American universities to either accept or deny an admissions offer. This Decision Day, College Adviser Haden Parrish has planned a special celebration for the senior Flucos.
There will be many fun activities and games set up for seniors to enjoy. Four inflatables will be set up, including a bounce house, a velcro wall, a two-person bungee run, and a basketball game. Lawn games such as corn hole, Kan Jam, and spike ball will also be available, along with footballs and Frisbees.
Multiple craft stations will also be set up for seniors to enjoy. One will be a rock painting station to personalize a rock that will join SGA’s painted rocks in front of the student parking lot. There will also be a photo station, a gratitude station to write thank you cards to school faculty and staff, and a tie-dye station to personalize Decision Day t-shirts.
Parrish has also scheduled emotional support dogs from Green Dogs Unleashed to attend the event, as well as the Virginia Secretary of Education, Atif Qarni.
Food, including hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, and cake pops from culinary, will also be available at the party.
The event will take place May 1 during 4th block on the football field. Students must check in with their 4th block teacher and complete a senior survey before gaining admission to the party. Parrish has sent the survey to all seniors by email, but a paper version will be available at the event.
