Fluco TV Meets Lake Monticello Broadcasting

October 15, 2018

Members of the Television Production Class at Fluvanna County High School had a chance to visit the Lake Monticello Broadcasting studio on Wednesday, September 19th.  With the hope of forging a lasting collaboration between the lake broadcasters and Fluco TV at the high school, Mark Vyrros and Bill Shaffer gave a tour of the new TV studio at the Bunker Clubhouse.  Students were told about the numerous ways in which they could get involved with Lake broadcasts.

With the host of opportunities presented by Mark Vyrros and Bill Shaffer, it is the goal of Television Production teacher David Small to involve his students with as many broadcasting experiences as possible before they graduate.

Small states, “Not all of the students enrolled in Television Production at the high school will go on to serve in the broadcast field, but the experience they gain working outside of the classroom with other adults is invaluable.”

For those students who do plan on investing their time into pursuing a career in the television or film industry, this opportunity is of great benefit.  Not only is it local, but it is a great chance for students to work with adults other than their teachers. Both Vyrros and Shaffer have a wealth of technical and industry knowledge that will help these students grow into becoming experienced broadcasters.
