35 FCHS Students Recieve AP Scholar Awards

The AP Scholar Awards from the College Board have arrived, and 35 current and former FCHS students have received recognition for their scores on multiple AP exams during the 2016-2017 school year.
The Class of 2017’s Eva McGehee earned the highest possible award from the College Board: the National AP Scholar Award. The award is only given to students who get an average score of four on eight or more AP exams. McGehee is only the second student in Fluvanna County to receive this prestigious award.
Seven students received the AP Scholar with Distinction Award, which requires an average of 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of three or higher on five or more AP exams. Those students are:

Madeline Dunn- University of New Mexico
Sophia Kershner- University of Virginia
Harrison Lee- Carnegie Mellon University
Eva McGehee- Georgetown University
Emily Newton- FCHS Senior
Alexander Scalzo- Virginia Tech
Seven students received the AP Scholar with Honor Award, which requires an average of 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of three or higher on four or more exams. Those students are:

Twenty students received the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with scores of three or higher. Those students are:

Out of all of the recipients this year, only 13 are currently at FCHS, and these students have one or more years to attempt to earn a higher level AP Scholar Award.
Over 160 FCHS students took an AP exam during the 2016-2017 school year, and 21% of those students earned an AP Scholar Award.
