Flucos Give to Those in Need

November 6, 2017

While it is certainly not news that Puerto Rico was hit hard by Hurricane Maria back in September, many are not aware that the island still hasn’t fully recovered. According to CNN, as of Nov. 6, up to 60% of the island is still without power, and many residents are without essential resources like drinking water, food, and necessary medications.

As a result, the FCHS Interact Club is sponsoring a supply drive for third block classes that will run Nov. 3 through Nov. 21.

The requested items include:

  • Batteries  (AA-C-D)
  • Vienna Sausages, Corn Beef, Spam (or any meat that does not need to be refrigerated)
  • Crackers
  • Soup
  • Candles (specifically the long ones)
  • Flash lights
  • Personal hygiene items: razors, female products (pads, tampons), soap, deodorant, etc.
  • Cereal, or other breakfast items that can be eaten with powdered milk or without milk.
  • Oatmeal (single packets)

The items will be sent to Arecibo, a municipality in Puerto Rico, and will be distributed by a local official.

The third block class with the most donations will win homemade sweets for an entire week from the Interact board.
