The Virginia Department of Education announced that 86 percent of Virginia’s public schools are Fully Accredited for the 2017-2018 school year. This is up five percent from the previous school year.
The State of Virginia has 132 school divisions. Fluvanna is one of 65 school divisions in the state to have all schools in its division Fully Accredited. Fluvanna is also one of 22 school divisions to have been Fully Accredited for the past four years.
Schools can meet the accreditation by scoring above the benchmark or using a three-year average. Since Central Elementary and West Central Primary do not administer SOL tests, their Accreditation is based on Carysbrook Elementary’s performance.
“I am proud of our school division for achieving this benchmark for the fourth consecutive year. We are fortunate to have a community that supports education and a group of dedicated educators who work together to provide our students with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful,” stated Mr. Chuck Winkler, Superintendent.
